Status report: radioactive waste packaging study

Current practices and proposed concepts of radioactive TRU waste handling and storage systems have been reviewed and analyzed for the purpose of establishing preliminary waste package acceptance criteria. A set of criteria for low-level TRU waste (LLTW), intermediate-level TRU waste (ILTW), and cladding waste have been developed and are presented here for the purpose of soliciting comments. In the course of writing this document and developing the criteria, a number of areas have been identified as requiring additional study to support the criteria. These studies will be conducted prior to finalizing criteria.
