Measurement of magnetic dipole moments of /sup 129/Xe/sup m/ and /sup 131/Xe/sup m/ by spin exchange with optically pumped Rb

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. C; (United States)

The magnetic moments of xenon atoms (/sup 129/Xe/sup m/ and /sup 131/Xe/sup m/) have been measured with a high precision nuclear-magnetic-resonance method. The nuclei of gaseous xenon were polarized by spin exchange with optically pumped rubidium and the polarization was measured by gamma-ray anisotropy. The static magnetic field for the nuclear magnetic resonance experiment was stabilized and calibrated by optical pumping magnetometers. The measured magnetic moments are chemically bond..mu..(129m)chemically bond = 0.891 223(4) ..mu../sub N/ and chemically bond..mu..(131m)chemically bond = 0.994 048(6) ..mu../sub N/.
