Theoretical estimate of the energies of four-particle muonic and mesic molecules

An interpolation formula is proposed which gives the dependence of the energy of a four-particle Coulomb system on the particle masses. It is used to calculate the ground state energies for 12 muonic and mesic molecular systems. It is found that in the muonic molecules {ital tt}{mu}{mu}, {ital dd}{mu}{mu}, and {ital pp}{mu}{mu} the binding between the hydrogen nuclei is respectively 225, 200, and 165 eV higher than in the analogous three-particle muonic molecular ions {ital tt}{mu}, {ital dd}{mu}, and {ital pp}{mu}.
