The topologically nontrivial gauge-field configuration that forms a chromoelectric string realizes an extremum of the effective action that arises in the calculation of hadron-field correlators in the framework of the 1/{ital N} expansion. The contribution of the quantum fluctuations of the gauge field to the string action for {ital N}{much gt}1 is calculated. It is shown that in first order of the expansion in powers of the curvature {ital R} of the world sheet of the string the Gaussian fluctuations give a contribution {similar to}1/{ital N}.
