This thesis reports on tests of various gauge group models using data observed by the AMY detector at the TRISTAN e[sup +]e[sup [minus]] collider. Results are presented of total hadronic cross section for e[sup +]e[sup [minus]] [yields] hadrons at 50 GeV [<=] [radical]s [<=] 64 GeV for an integrated luminosity of [integral] Ldt = 95.5pb[sup [minus]1], and total cross sections and forward-backward asymmetries for e[sup +]e[sup [minus]] [yields] [mu][sup +][mu][sup [minus]] and e[sup +]e[sup [minus]] [yields] [tau][sup +][tau][sup [minus]] processes at 52 Gev [<=] [radical]s [<=] 61.4 GeV for [integral] Ldt = 32.6pb[sup [minus]1]. The author examines models of extra Z bosons, E[sub 6], SU(5)[sub c], and SU(2)[sub q] x SU(2)[sub t] by fitting to these data and data from other e[sup +]e[sup [minus]] experiments together. It was determined that the QCD scale parameter by fitting the total hadronic cross sections for all e[sup +]e[sup [minus]] data at 20 [<=] [radical]s [<=] 64 GeV to the formula to O([alpha][sup 3][sub s]) and obtained [Lambda](5)/MS = 0.533[sup +0.521+0.020][sub [minus]0.334[minus]0.029][+-]0.09 GeV. This result is high but consistent with the world average of [Lambda](5)/MS = 0.175[sup +0.041][sub [minus]0.034] within errors.
