Petroleum engineers and independent exploration and production companies in the year 2000

Although it may seem difficult to predict a bright future for any aspect of the petroleum industry during these troubled times, it can be said that if there is a future for the domestic petroleum industry - and national security dictates that there must be - then the domestically oriented independent sector and its professionals will continue to play a key role in that future. Petroleum and the ability to find and extract it are valuable resources that will not soon nor easily be replaced.
