Exposure-assessment component of the Field Verification Program: Overview and data presentation

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7152738
The exposure assessment component of the aquatic portion of the Field Verification Program (FVP) related the source input of dredged material contaminants to corresponding concentration distributions in space and time in the vicinity of the disposal mound. The specific objectives for this component were to provide a description of the environmental exposure field at biological effects measurement stations in the water column (pelagic zone), in the sediments (benthic zone), and at the near-bottom/ sediment-water interface (epibenthic zone); to relate the source (dredge disposal mound) to near-field exposure measurements using process models for the vertical transport of contaminants and particulate materials; and to determine the environmental processes controlling contaminant phase partitioning. The report provides an overview of the exposure assessment component of the aquatic portion of the FVP, and describes the methods used and results obtained from activities directed towards the first objective.
