Effects of storage environment and nickel plating on the mechanical properties of U-0. 75 Ti

The mechanical properties of bare and nickel plated U-0.75 Ti tensile bars were measured after exposures of up to 100 days to moist nitrogen atmospheres of 0-100% relative humidity. The relative humidity of the storage environment had no effect on the mechanical properties. Conversely, the nickel plating procedure significantly degraded mechanical properties. Sporadic low ductility values were also observed for bare U-0.75 Ti tensile bars.
