This paper presents a concept for producing a 40,000-BOPD offshore field in 260 ft of water in the North Sea. The system uses a semisubmersible drilling rig converted to a floating production platform. The platform is connected to sea-bed installations by a production riser developed specifically for this application. Produced crude is pumped by means of a submarine pipeline and single-buoy mooring into export tankers. The system is designed to operate on the ''tight-line'' principle for a 70-percent year-around production availability.
