The standard molar enthalpies of formation of RuAl, RhAl, and IrAl have been determined by the direct combination method using a high-temperature calorimeter operated at (1473 {plus minus} 2) K. The following values are reported: {Delta}H{sup 0}{sub f}(RuAl) = {minus}(124.1 {plus minus} 3.3) kJ/mol; {Delta}H{sup 0}{sub f}(RhAl) = {minus}(212.6 {plus minus} 3.2) kJ/mol; and {Delta}H{sup 0}{sub f}(IrAl) = {minus}(185.5 {plus minus} 3.5) kJ/mol. For OsAl, an approximate values is {minus}77 kJ/mol. IN this paper, the results are compared with available data for related alloys and with predicted values.
