Thermocline degradation in a packed-bed thermal storage tank

A time-dependent mathematical analysis of the fluid and solid temperature profiles of the bed during holding periods when no new fluid enters the tank was developed for the special case where the inlet fluid velocity is zero. The analysis incorporates the additional effects of thermal conduction and finite tank length.
