The irreversible supra-band-edge reduction of copper(I) (trans-diene){sup +} to copper metal has previously been used to confirm the existence of hot electron reductions occurring at the p-InP/acetonitrile interface. Results for similar experiments performed over a much wider range of conditions are presented herein. Lower limits for hot electron quantum efficiencies up to 2.6% are measured at high-doped p-InP photoelectrodes.
