Cyclonic combustion burner

Patent ·
OSTI ID:7139736
A compact cyclonic burner which burns liquid or gaseous fuels at a higher temperature than prior art burners and thus improves the extent of combustion and pollution reduction is described. The apparatus consists of a circular housing with walls having spaced secondary slotted air inlets arranged to extend between the top and bottom of the burner for injecting air into the burner tangentially to the wall of the housing and along its inside periphery. Fuel inlet means are connected to the housing and disposed to inject fuel into the housing tangentially to its inside wall, while a fuel ignition means is situated adjacent the inlet. The secondary air combines more readily with the liquid or gaseous burning fuel during the combustion process due to the arrangement of air inlets and aids the vaporization, distillation, gasification, and oxidation of the burning fuel.
