Note on the singular eigenfunction method in transport theory

Journal Article · · Transp. Theory Stat. Phys.; (United States)
The purpose of this note is to show how the singular eigenfunction method for solving transport equations can be made rigorous. We do this by supplying proofs for a few manipulations taken for granted in the formalism which, on closer analysis, turn out to be perfectly correct. This work will concentrate on a proof that the putative solution, derived from the boundary data expansion, actually satisfies the equation and the boundary conditions at x = 0 and x = infinity.
