In a subsurface well safety valve having a tubular housing, a valve closure member in the housing moveable between open and closed positions for controlling flow through the housing, an operator tube including an annular piston section mounted for longitudinal movement in the housing and coupled with the valve closure member for opening and closing the valve closure member, the operator tube, piston section, and the housing being spaced to define an annular control fluid cylinder in the housing around the operator tube and the piston for moving the piston responsive to control fluid pressure in the cylinder, and two-way static and dynamic seal means for sealing opposite ends of the annular control fluid cylinder in the housing is described comprising: a first metal two-way static and dynamic annular seal in the annular cylinder in a recess of the operator tube or the housing sealing one end of the cylinder between the housing and the operator tube including deformable metal frusto-conical shaped washer means between the housing and the operator tube; and a second metal two-way static and dynamic annular seal in the annular cylinder in a recess of the operator tube or the housing spaced from the first metal seal sealing between the housing and the annular piston section including deformable frusto-conical shaped metal washer means between the housing and the operator tube.
