Gonad dosage in males resulting from x-ray diagnostics

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7133143
The genetically significant dosage (GSD) resulting from x-ray diagnostics in Dutch hospitals was investigated. The frequency distribution of the dosage per patient was determined for eight x-ray diagnostic types which together produce about 90 % of the GSD. Some 6600 tests were carried out, and an estimate of 20 mrad was obtained for GSD in males. No correlation could be made between measured gonad dosage and the technical parameters of x-ray diagnostics. Some recommendations are made for possible further studies, which should result in suggestions for dosage-limiting measures. (GRA)
