This paper investigates the mechanism of the radiothermoluminescence (RTL) of polymers containing triarylpyrazoline luminophores. The spectral composition of irradiated samples of low-density polyethylene (PE) and PE containing 0.1% weight luminor red (LR) are shown. At low temperatures the luminescence of the initial PE is concentrated chiefly in the spectral range 400-490 nm. When the temperature is raised, the intensity of this band gradually decreases with a simultaneous increase in the luminescence intensity in the range 315-370 nm. It is shown that the RTL intensity of polyolefins can be substantially increased without changing the positions of the maxima on the deexcitation curves, if luminescent additives possessing good sensitivity are introduced into the melt and the reproducibility of the thermal prehistory of the investigated samples is followed.
