The author discusses Cornell University's research programs in plasma physics. He describes the early days of research in radio astronomy. He also explains how Cornell uses two major observatories - one in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, and the other near Lima, Peru. Some of the areas that are being explored are ionosphere-magnetosphere energy coupling, low-latitude plasma instabilities, and plasma turbulence.
