An apparatus is described for supporting a tubular string extending into a well bore from a surrounding wellhead, comprising; hanger body means adapted to be located in the wellhead and having at least external threads and at least one sealing surface thereon; wear bushing means adapted to be located in the wellhead; packoff means adapted to be located in the wellhead; running tool means connectible to a running string; means releasably connecting the hanger body means, wear bushing means, and packoff means to the running tool means to enable the hanger body means, wear bushing means, and packoff means to be lowered into the wellhead; and means for moving the packoff means downwardly of the hanger body means toward the sealing surface and effecting sealing engagement of the packoff means with the sealing surface and the surrounding wellhead without downward movement of either the hanger body means or the wear bushing means.
