1 g, low frequency accelerometer calibrator
A low g, low frequency harmonic motion device was developed to evaluate and accurately calibrate servo (force balance) accelerometers. An immediate application is the SA2477 family of servo accelerometers being developed for the W76 and W78 JTA Programs. This device generates a 1 g peak, sinusoidally varying acceleration over a frequency range from zero to 50 Hz. This is accomplished by mounting an accelerometer with its sensitive axis normal to a shaft rotating at any selected rpm from 3 to 3000 within the earth's gravitation field. Conventional rectilinear vibration exciters require extreme displacement amplitudes to achieve the same results at low frequencies; for example: 20mm P--P at 5 Hz or 500mm P--P at 1 Hz. In addition, this calibrator permits correlation of dynamic response with a static response observed on a conventional 1 g tilt table.
