An improved anode for a rechargeable battery is described. It has several electrical conductors for support and electrical continuity. At least one of these is attached to the battery case in such a way as to allow anode movement during operation and charging. It is designed for use in a battery with an aluminum or Al--Li alloy anode, a molten salt electrolyte, and a sulfur-containing cathode. (RWR)
