Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/7122852· OSTI ID:7122852

The emission spectra of the A/sup 1/..sigma../sup +/--X/sup 1/..sigma../sup +/ bands of /sup 7/LiH were photographed in the 4728A - 5298 A region with a 3.4 meter Ebert Spectrograph of theoretical resolution of about 0.07 cm/sup -1/. High purity /sup 7/LiH crystals were obtained from Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The atomic percent of /sup 7/Li in /sup 7/LiH and /sup 7/LiD was 99.93 percent. The discharge source was a demountable stainless steel hollow cathode lamp. The lithium hydride crystals were packed into the cathode. Pressure in the discharge tube was about 10 to 20 torr of H/sub 2/. The discharge was run at about 600 volts and 1.25 to 1.75 amperes. Acceptable spectra were obtained with exposure time of 6 hours. A Westinghouse iron hollow cathode was used to produce the iron spectrum for calibration. The plates were measured on the Gaertner photoplate comparator with an encoder system and on-line computer service at Argonne National Laboratory. The measured lines in the spectra of /sup 7/LiH are given in this repot /sup 9/COO-2326-19). Similar spectra for /sup 6/LiH and /sup 6/LiD are given in companion reports (COO-2326-17) and (COO-2326-18), respectively. The relative intensities of the lines are applicable only to short regions and do not extend over the whole spectrum.
