Experimental solar heat supply system with fixed mirror concentrators for the heating and cooling of buildings. Report for 1 Jul 1974--30 Jun 1975

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7121734

A new type of solar collector has been assembled and tested at Georgia Tech which promises to provide heat at about the same cost as commercially available flat-plate collectors, but at a much higher temperature. The higher temperature permits higher COP air conditioning and heat pump operation, with a resulting decrease in the collector area required and lower air conditioning equipment costs as compared with systems using flat plate collectors. In addition, this focusing collector can supply low-grade steam and other industrial process heat at temperatures to several hundred degrees Centigrade. (GRA)
