Use of modelling techniques in the design and application of recuperative burners

Book ·
OSTI ID:7121201

Mathematical and physical modeling have facilitated the design, development, and application of recuperative burners, which save a substantial amount of fuel by using exhaust flue gas to preheat incoming combustion air. Examples demonstrate (1) the application of recuperative burners to forge furnaces, intermittent kilns, and crucible and muffle furnaces, and (2) the link between modeling methods and industrial energy saving. It is pointed out that such techniques need be no more complex than the task at hand.
