Ramjet fuel studies. Part 2. Aluminum, boron, and boron carbide. Technical publication, Jul 1970--Jun 1972

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7118832
Stable suspensions of aluminum and boron carbide in various hydrocarbons have been prepared for use as ramjet fuels. Many chemical and physical properties of these suspensions related to Navy storable propellant criteria were measured. Total burning times for concentrated dust flames of carbon, boron, boron carbide, and aluminum at atmospheric pressure are examined and compared. The implications of these rates with respect to the combustion efficiencies of gelled fuels in ramjet missiles are discussed. (Author) (GRA)
