Production of N* resonances in. pi. /sup -/p. --> lambda. K/sup +/+X/sup -/ and. pi. /sup -/p. --> lambda. K/sup 0/+X/sup 0/ at 4. 35 and 4. 85 GeV/c

Mass spectra of the ..lambda..K/sup +//sup ,//sup 0/ systems are investigated in the reactions ..pi../sup -/p..--> lambda..K/sup +/+X/sup -/ and ..pi../sup -/p..--> lambda..K/sup 0/+X/sup 0/ at 4.35 and 4.85 GeV/c. For the isobar N*..--> lambda..K (with mass M=1717 +- 39 MeV and width GAMMA=136 MeV) the production cross section and possible spin values J> or =5/2 are obtained.
