Fission of /sup 241/Am and /sup 243/Am by photons of energy 50--1300 MeV

The 300-MeV and 2-GeV linear electron accelerators at the Physico-technical Institute, Academy of Sciences, Ukrainian SSR, have been used to measure the yields of fragments from photofission for samples of /sup 241/Am, /sup 243/Am, and /sup 238/U in bombardment by bremsstrahlung with various maximum energies E/sub ..gamma../ in the intervals 50--300 and 300--1300 MeV. The relative fissilities of the nuclei have been obtained. Photofission cross-section curves calculated from the experimental data for /sup 241/Am and /sup 243/Am are compared with the total cross section for hadronic absorption of ..gamma.. rays by these nuclei in the energy range investigated.
