Improved protection for alarm communications systems

Sandia National Laboratories has initiated efforts to identify systems and concepts which are promising for enhanced protection of the alarm communications system against both the insider and outsider adversary. Modules from commercial vendors are being developed to provide enhanced line security (ELS) between the sensors and the data gathering panels (DGP) or multiplexers (MUX). These modules are a promising new option for a physical protection system and more details concerning the evaluation and specific design requirements and functions will be presented in this paper. 12 refs.
