Couplings of vector mesons to tensor mesons and the Pomeron

We saturate the matrix elements of the stress tensor between vector-meson states with f, f', and the Pomeron, assuming that the coupling constants go like 1/m/sub V/ /sup 2/ (m/sub V/ = vector-meson mass) within the symmetry-group (SU/sub 3/, SU/sub 4/, etc.) multiplet apart from the Clebsch-Gordan coefficients. It is found that (i) nonet (mass)/sup 2/ formulas are obtained, (ii) vector-meson--nucleon total cross sections are determined, with a 1/m/sub V/ /sup 2/ dependence, and (iii) tensor-vector-vector couplings are obtained. All of these are in agreement with the experiments.
