Superfund Record of Decision (EPA Region 9): Signetics (Advanced Micro Devices 901) (tTRW Microwave), Sunnyvale, CAa. (First remedial action), September 1991. Final report

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7114855
The Signetics site is an active semiconductor manufacturing facility in Sunnyvale, Santa Clara County, California. The site is part of a larger study area that includes four Operable Units (OUs): the Signetics site, the 3-acre Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) 901/902 site, the 1-acre TRW Microwave site, and a 100-acre offsite contaminated ground water plume. Six aquifers are associated with the study area including a deeper aquifer confirmed only at the TRW and Signetics sites. Currently, the contaminated ground water is not used as a drinking water supply, but the State considers several of the aquifers to be potential drinking water sources. The Record of Decision (ROD) collectively addresses final remediation of soil and ground water in the four separate OUs within the study area. The primary contaminants of concern affecting the soil and ground water are VOCs including PCE and TCE. The selected remedial action for the site is included.
