Idaho Power Company is adding a new hydroelectric project to its system in the spring of 1994. The utility anticipates that the new development will extend the life of an existing hydro site for another century. This article describes the development of the new hydroelectric project at the existing Swan Falls plant south of Boise. The design of the new powerhouse and the decommissioning of the old powerhouse are described.
