Magnetic susceptibilities of fluorite-type La{sub y}U{sub 1{minus}y}O{sub 2+x} solid solutions with various x and y values were measured from 1.8 K to room temperature. With increasing lanthanum and oxygen concentrations, the effective magnetic moment of uranium decreased, and the uranium ions were found to be oxidized from +4 to +5 to +6. The effect of lanthanum substitution for uranium and oxygen nonstoichiometry on the variation of effective magnetic moment and the Neel temperature was discussed.
