Electrochemistry of molybdocene dichloride and tungstocene dichloride and the identification of metastable metallocenes

This paper studies the possibilities of electrochemical generation and direct detection of Cp/sub 2/Mo and Cp/sub 2/W in the electroreduction of the corresponding complexes Cp/sub 2/MX/sub 2/ on a mercury electrode in THF or DMSO medium. In connection with the interest in cyclopentadienyl complexes of low-valence transition metals as possible catalysts of the electroreduction of CO, the authors studied the interaction of products of the electroreduction of Cp/sub 2/MoCl/sub 2/ and Cp/sub 2/WCl/sub 2/ with CO.
