Selecting innovative cleanup technologies: EPA resources
- Environmental Protection Agency, Washington, DC (United States)
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) encourages the use of innovative technologies, and by improving the availability of information to decision-makers at hazardous waste sites, the Agency hopes that they will be considered more often. Indeed, EPA offers a number of resources to site managers as they move though the decision-making process that leads to remedy selection. This article describes the steps involved in researching the technology alternatives and the information available from EPA at each of these steps. It is not intended to be an authoritative guide to the remedy selection process. Rather, it can serve as a roadmap to help site managers navigate through the growing amount of information available on innovative treatment technologies. This roadmap should help managers categorize data available to identify and narrow the alternatives applicable to particular sites.
