Hazardous waste land treatment

Book ·
OSTI ID:7109192
Land treatment, which uses the surface soil as the treatment medium, has been a generally accepted method of treatment for municipal sewage effluents and sludges. It is now being considered for increasingly complex wastes, including hazardous wastes. Because of this, there is a need to better understand the behavior and fate of waste constituents in a given soil environment, particularly their mobility and toxicity. This book details aspects of the design, operation, and monitoring of hazardous waste land treatment facilities. It describes everything from initial site selection and waste characterization through facility design, operation and closure.
