Effects of apomorphine, piribedil, and pimozide on operant behavior of rats and pigeons

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7107153
Results are reported from studies on the behavioral effects of two dopamine agonists, apomorphine and piribedil, and one dopamine antagonist, pimozide, in rats and pigeons, using operant techniques. For both species, three schedules were used to maintain performance by positive reinforcement: the variable interval schedule; and the fixed interval and fixed ratio schedules, which were combined into a multiple schedule. So that general conclusions not be drawn on behavior generated only by positive reinforcement, the effects of these drugs were also determined on a non-discriminated avoidance schedule in the rat.
