Warren Petroleum Co. (Tulsa) owns 23 LP-gas barges and leases another eight to 10, depending on need, for transporting product from Mont Belvieu to terminals on the inland waterways and east to Florida and down into the Caribbean. One of these barges is the Sioux, recently completed by Fredeman Shipyard, located at Carlyss, La. Upon delivery to the owner, M and W Barge Co. of Belle Chasse, La., the barge went on charter to Warren Petroleum. Built under the supervision of project manager Terry T. Frickey, the barge took nine months to complete and provided 20 new jobs at the shipyard. The company is currently negotiating for a similar barge-construction contract.
