Vacuum polarization by magnetic flux: the Aharonov-Bohm effect

This paper is devoted to solving the problem of the vacuum polarization by a magnetic field confined to a tube of finite radius. The magnetic field polarizes the quantum-field vacuum in the region outside of the tube by the Aharnonov-Bohm effect. The vacuum density and the current of scalar and spinor fields are calculated in the presence of a straight infinitely long tube.
