Adaptation of the commercial Paraho Development Corp. limestone calcining process to oil shale retorting will be investigated in a 30 month demonstration program to be carried out by Development Engineering Inc. at a cost of $7.5 million. J. B. Jones (Dev. Eng. Inc.) has invited private industry to participate. The program calls for a semi-commercial size kiln to be built at the federally owned Anvil Points oil shale research works. The Cleveland-Cliffs Iron Co. has offered to handle the mining. H. Pforzheimer (Sohio Pet. Co.) expects broad support. Participating companies will receive a favorable license to use the process and hardware.
