Molecular beam study of isomerization and dehydrogenation of butene on a mica surface

Journal Article · · J. Catal.; (United States)
Experimental results obtained at 650/sup 0/-850/sup 0/K in a Recycling Molecular Beam Reactor on the conversion of 1-butene to cis- and trans-2-butene, and to 1,3-butadiene on a heat-treated natural mica, a model for an amorphous silica-alumina catalyst, showed the reaction probability could be fitted for each of the three reactions by the equation P equals A exp (-E/RT), where A and E were 0.0029 and 41.9 kj/mole for cis-2-butene, 0.012 and 48.1 kj/mole for trans-2-butene, and 0.2 and 48.2 kj/mole for butadiene.
