Absolute cross sections and isomeric cross-section ratios for the /sup 148/Nd(d,2n), /sup 148/Nd(p,n), and /sup 146/Nd(. cap alpha. ,pn) reactions producing the isomeric pair /sup 148/Pm/sup m ,g/

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., C; (United States)
Excitation functions and isomeric cross-section ratios were determined for the /sup 148/Nd(d,2n), /sup 148/Nd(p,n), and /sup 146/Nd(..cap alpha..,pn) reactions producing the isomeric pair /sup 148/Pm/sup m ,g/. The experimental isomer ratios of 41.3-day /sup 148/Pm/sup m/ (6-) and 5.37-day /sup 148/Pm/sup g/ (1-) were compared with statistical model calculations wherein spin cutoff parameters sigma were obtained assuming that sigma is either independent or varying with excitation energy. The spin cutoff parameters and the effective moments of inertia deduced from these calculations were sigma = 4.2 and theta = 0.70theta/sub r/, respectively, for the reaction /sup 148/Nd(p,n) /sup 148/Pm/sup m ,g/, and sigma = 3.9 and theta = 0.65theta/sub r/, respectively, for the reaction /sup 148/Nd(d,2n) /sup 148/Pm/sup m ,g/.
