Structure in the energy spectra of. pi. /sup +/ mesons in single photoproduction from the nuclei /sup 12/C, /sup 28/Si, and /sup 40/Ca

Energy spectra of ..pi../sup +/ mesons have been measured in interaction of 400-MeV electrons with the nuclei /sup 12/C, /sup 28/Si, and /sup 40/Ca. Particles emitted at an angle ..pi../sub lab/ = 90/sup 0/ were recorded in the range of kinetic energies 35--125 MeV by a scintillation counter telescope. As a result of comparison of the spectra of ..pi../sup +/ mesons measured in electron and photon beams, a structure has been observed in the pion spectra which at the present time is hard to explain.
