A back pressure-controlled EGR system in an internal combustion engine is described that is comprised of an EGR valve with a pressure control chamber disposed in an EGR conduit connecting an exhaust pipe to an intake pipe of the engine, and a back pressure transducer having a sub-atmospheric pressure chamber connected to said EGR valve means and having a pressure operation chamber connected to said pressure control chamber, said sub-atmospheric chamber being connected to the atmospheric air via an air bleed passage which is connected to a venturi portion of a carburetor via a branch pipe.
