Method of burning hydrogen deficient fuels

A process is described for reducing the sooting tendencies of a relatively hydrogen-deficient heavy liquid hydrocarbon fuel. The process comprises physically mixing the fuel with a hydrogen-rich gas selected from the group of hydrogen, methane, ethane, ethylene, propane, propylene, butane, isobutane, isobutylene, and mixtures thereof, at conditions wherein a majority of the hydrogen-rich gas remains in vapor phase, and the resulting mixture of fuel and gas are burned.
