Economic polymerflood in the North Burbank Unit, Osage County, Oklahoma

Conference ·
OSTI ID:7093274
A polymer flood of polyacrylamide Dow Pusher 1000 (molecular weight of 10 million) was used in a field test of the Burbank sandstone reservoir. Concentrations of 25 to 250 ppM polymer were made using fresh water treated with sodium hydrosulfite to remove oxygen. Laboratory tests of adsorption losses of the polymer onto reservoir rock were so low that they were difficult to measure. An estimated 76,500 bbl of incremental oil were produced by this test.
