Tertiary recovery by the Maraflood process in the Bradford Field

Conference ·
OSTI ID:7093250

Tertiary oil recovery by the Maraflood process was applied to the Bradford Third sandstone, (Bradford field in McKean County, Pennsylvania). The reservoir is a coarse silt to a very fine sand, filled with high paraffinic Bradford crude. A waterflood recovered about 40 percent of the original oil in place. Enhanced recovery was then initiated by a surfactant slug, followed by a mobility buffer (aqueous polyacrylamide, Dow Pusher 500 X), and finally water injection. The recovery was about 50 percent of the oil in place after the initial waterflood.
