Oil recovery process using an unhydrolyzed polyacrylamide and partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide mobility control agent

A surfactant-polymer oil recovery treatment, using an aqueous mixture of polyacrylamide and Dow Pusher 700 as the polymer flood, recovered over 20 percent more residual oil than a surfactant-polymer treatment, which used only Pusher 700 in the aqueous polymer flood. A Berea core (0.205 porosity, 440.8 md permeability) was saturated with Henry plant brine, flooded with Henry crude, and waterflooded with Henry water. Injection of the surfactant solution (petroleum sulfonate) was followed by the polymer flood of both unhydrolyzed and partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamides in a brine of less than 300,000 ppm TDS. About 68.5 percent of residual oil was recovered.
