Resource economics: an economic approach to natural-resource and environmental policy
Book

OSTI ID:7092645
Resource economics as an essential component of policy decisions is explained. Although economics is the focal point and the unifying theme, the natural sciences and the legal, political, and administrative concerns are integrated with economic analysis whenever the opportunity arises. Real-world examples illustrate important concepts. Following a chapter that provides a perspective on the resource and environmental problems of the modern world and a chapter that defines resources and identifies some important resource policy issues, the next eight chapters provide an introduction to economics and the economic theory necessary to permit effective economic analysis of resource problems. The book concludes with the applied sphere of institutional realities, techniques of quantitative analysis, and the integrated analysis of applied policy problems. 108 references, 74 figures, 13 tables.
