This patent describes a resilient seal element adapted to be removably mounted on a rigid valve body. It comprises: an annular ring member formed of an elastomeric material and defining a front-to-rear extending axis, the ring member including: a forwardly facing front surface, a rearwardly facing rear surface, and an inner circumferential surface engageable with an outer circumferential surface of a rigid valve body, and an outer circumferential surface engageable with a rigid valve seat, the outer circumferential surface being of concave configuration and tapering in a forward direction.
