Auto option: flexibility still counts

Journal Article · · Environment; (United States)
The bus and the automobile are compared for energy efficiency in urban passenger transport. Results of several studies are given and discussed, and it is indicated that possibly the greatest fuel savings can be achieved by design and use of energy-efficient automobiles rather than by substitution of buses for automobiles. The social and economic factors associated with large and small buses, shuttle service, railway rapid transit, and automobiles are discussed. (PMA)
